Beenlog isn't recording

Open Settings in Beenlog and check the status line. If it says it needs “Always” access, tap Open iOS Settings and choose Location → Always. Recording also pauses on purpose while you sit still, and picks up as soon as you move.

Will it drain my battery?

Beenlog records precisely while you're moving and almost nothing while you're still, so a normal day costs a few percent. Low Power Mode makes uploads less frequent but recording continues.

A drive is marked wrong

Open the drive and switch it between Business and Personal. Your mileage report updates straight away.

Getting your data out

Export any range of days from the share button: trips, visits and points as CSV, a spreadsheet, GPX, GeoJSON, KML or a full JSON backup. Your mileage log exports as a CRA logbook or an IRS mileage log, in PDF or CSV.

Cloud Sync

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. To cancel, open iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Beenlog. Your history stays on your phone either way.

Why does it ask for Always location?

So it can record without you opening the app. Motion & Fitness lets it tell a drive from a walk. You can change either in iOS Settings at any time.

How accurate are the routes?

Routes come from your iPhone's GPS while you move, and distance is measured along the recorded route. In tunnels or between tall buildings a stretch can come out straighter than the road.

Does it work in the US and Canada?

Yes. Beenlog uses miles and IRS rates in the US, and kilometres and the CRA logbook in Canada, and you can switch either in Settings.

What does Cloud Sync add?

A backup of your history, and the same history on every device you sign in to. It's $10/mo, in US or Canadian dollars. Everything else in Beenlog is free.

Deleting your data

Delete single days or your whole history from Settings. Without Cloud Sync, your history only lives on your iPhone; with it, deleting removes the backup too.

Using your own server

In Beenlog's Settings, enter your server address, username and password. Points are kept on your phone and uploaded whenever the server is reachable.
